A comforting and delicious meal featuring tender garlic butter steak served over creamy cheddar rice, perfect for any night of the week.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season the steak cubes with salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the steak cubes for 3-4 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. Reduce heat to medium. Add 2 tablespoons butter and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add remaining 2 tablespoons butter and chicken broth. Scrape up browned bits from the pan. Stir in rice and bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-18 minutes until liquid is absorbed and rice is tender.
  6. Remove from heat. Stir in heavy cream and shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.
  7. Return steak to the skillet, nestling it into the rice. Warm over low heat for 2-3 minutes.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, let the steak rest after searing to keep it tender. You can add vegetables like steamed broccoli or sautéed mushrooms.
