This Slow Cooker Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes recipe combines the classic flavors of a Philly cheesesteak with the ease of a sloppy joe. Perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

– 2 pounds beef chuck roast, thinly sliced or cut into small cubes
– 1 tablespoon olive oil
– 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
– 1 large green bell pepper, thinly sliced
– 1 (8 ounce) package white mushrooms, sliced
– 3 cloves garlic, minced
– 1/2 cup beef broth
– 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
– 2 tablespoons tomato paste
– 1 teaspoon dried oregano
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
– 8 ounces provolone cheese, sliced
– 8 soft hamburger buns or hoagie rolls

Instructions

1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the beef in batches until browned. Transfer to the slow cooker.
2. In the same skillet, cook the onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms for 5-7 minutes until softened. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more. Transfer to the slow cooker.
3. In a small bowl, whisk together beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, oregano, salt, and pepper. Pour over the beef and vegetables in the slow cooker.
4. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the beef is tender.
5. About 15 minutes before serving, shred the beef in the slow cooker with two forks.
6. Place the sliced provolone cheese on top of the meat mixture. Cover and cook for 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted. Stir to combine.
7. Serve the mixture on toasted buns.
