Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced
  • 3 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes to make the sauce.
  2. Toss the sliced chicken with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  3. Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat.
  4. Add the chicken in a single layer and cook without moving for 3 minutes, until deeply browned. Flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes until cooked through. Transfer to a plate.
  5. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil to the wok. Add broccoli and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp.
  6. Return the chicken to the wok. Pour the sauce over everything and stir-fry for 2 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the ingredients.
  7. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve immediately over steamed rice.

Notes

For a spicier dish, add extra red pepper flakes or a chopped fresh chili. For a gluten-free version, use tamari or coconut aminos instead of soy sauce.
