Ingredients

  • 1 loaf (16 oz) Italian bread or French bread
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. In a small bowl, mix softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper. Spread over cut sides of bread. Bake for 8-10 minutes until golden.
  3. Season chicken with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook in olive oil over medium-high heat for 5-7 minutes per side until cooked through. Slice into strips.
  4. In the same skillet, melt 2 tablespoons butter over medium heat. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Stir in heavy cream, Parmesan, and mozzarella. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until thickened. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
  5. Place baked bread on a baking sheet. Spoon Alfredo sauce over bread. Top with sliced chicken and remaining mozzarella. Bake for 5-7 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly. Broil for 1-2 minutes for a golden finish.
  6. Slice and serve immediately.

Notes

For extra flavor, add red pepper flakes to the sauce. To keep bread crispy, do not oversaturate with sauce. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
